How do I get my windshield wiper arms off without damaging them?
Hi guys,
I hope this is an easy question, but I have to remove the windshield wiper arms from my 1972 Blazer and I don't want to scratch them all up. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks guys! Rod

There is a little clip on the base of the arm where it attaches to the stud.....pull the clips down with a screwdriver and the wiper arm should then slide right off.
If it is stuck on, pry on them with a piece of wood or something so you don't scratch them.

Hey 'John, Can you post a part number for those windshield wiper pliers? Would like to see if my local store can order them. Never seen them in the shelves. Would be a handy item to have in the tool box. Thanks, Ironhorse

I have always been able to take mine off with out any tools. I pull the arm up and with the same hand push down by the pivot with my thumb. That takes the sideways load off of the shaft. Then with my other hand pull up on the opposite side. Works like a charm. If that doesn't work get a screwdriver and pry very carefully while still pushing down with your thumb.

i used this big iron hook type thing my dad has...hit it with a hammer and it pops the wiper arm off. i guess its ok on a truck like mine, but i wouldn't use it on a truck with a good windshield or good paint job.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but before you put them back on, make sure you put vaseline or anti-sieze lube on them. Makes for taking them off the next time much easier.
