door disassembly

Hoping someone can point me in the direction of a link to an already existing thread on removing all the all the window and handle patrs from doors as i dont want to fu@k the parts up as i dont have $ for new.....any pics of steps or tips that make life easier would be greatly appreciated

There are different publications that show how the door is assembled and would aid in your efforts to disassemble your door. The screen shot below is from the 1960 - 1966 CHEVY/GMC TRUCK FACTORY ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONAL MANUAL which shows the "Side Door Lock Assembly & Handle" in the 1960 section. There are other pages showing more about doors for later years but since this is a copyrighted document, I'll refrain from posting them as there are many vendors that sell both hardcopy and CD-ROM versions of the manual. I would also recommend the CHEVROLET TRUCK SHOP MANUAL and addendums for the model year of your truck. With these two publications, you should be able to accomplish your goal of disassembling your door without mucking it up. I believe the purpose of this forum is tap into the knowledge of all of the grey beards who can provide tips / workarounds if things don't go the way they should. Good luck!
