Re: Service parts Identifcation sticker ?

Just a guess (and I am sure others will chime in) - is it the serial number of the truck (part of the vin)?

Mine was removed by a PO so I can't compare.

Re: Service parts Identifcation sticker ?

I'm not exactly sure what the SE means but I am pretty certain having an FT number in that box is the order number for the truck if was special ordered by a dealer for a customer. Dont forget back then they would build just about any combo of truck you wanted and add or delete options for a specail order. For instance you could order a monotone Super Cheyenne package with a 6 cylinder engine and 3 on the tree transmission and no power steering with a radio delete if that is what wanted. I have big block 69 Chev Custom with power steering and no power brakes but it has overload springs, cab lights front sway bar. It was special ordered in and it also has the FT number inside the SE box.

I was under the impression SE stood for Special Equipment

Well that makes sense to me and I'm thinking if you went an ordered a truck with the options you wanted it would have Special Equipment.

I can post them later today when I'm home but I have for sure 2 spids (and maybe more) in my archives that are from trucks built in Oshawa that were special ordered by someone and have FT**** in the SE box on the Spid. I'm surprised SSTim hasn't responded to this thread.

Re: Service parts Identifcation sticker ?

Just an observation but the squarebody SPIDs don't have the "SE" box; only the VIN and the wheelbase; so apparently it is something that got phased out.
