Ignition switch issues
I'm trying to get my truck started, everything except the bodywork isn't original. The engine is an SBC350 from a 78 Impala & a 4 position ignition switch. I've just fitted an EZ wiring loom. The starter will turn when I turn the key to the 2nd position but I don't have 12v at the electric pump. The only wire that has 12v at the switch is the starter. This comes from the solenoid which is on the same terminal as the main + from the battery.

Re: Ignition switch issues
The terminals marked "coil" should have power when the key is in the "on" or "start" position.
The terminals marked "acc" should have power when the key is in "on" or "acc" position, but might not have power when key is in "start" position. Fuel pump should have power same as coil, so hook it to one of the "ign" terminals. You don't want power to the coil or pump when you turn the key back to "acc" to listen to the radio on cruise night.

Re: Ignition switch issues
the ezwire harness should have a fuel pump wire from the fuse panel
this should be hot in the start and run position if not; look at your ignition switch connectors again before modifying the harness a quick question to ezwire might answer this faster than we can blunder through it

Re: Ignition switch issues
Gonna have a look at the ignition switch again, I assume EZ assumes that I'm using a standard switch. I may have to move the start wire to a common on the switch. Nothing is live at the fuse panel & I don't know how it gets live

Re: Ignition switch issues
My EZ harness has the fuel pump and choke power on one fuse hot only with ingition in run position. I looked at the stock GM keyed column wiring diagram. Power goes to the switch (red wire), then back to the run fuses (orange wire). Accesories are the brown wire. Here is a chart I made up the shows how the GM column wiring is set up. EZ uses the same colors scheme as GM.

Re: Ignition switch issues
Sorted, I'd got the start wire on the same terminal as the battery but it should have been the solenoid power! Now the fuse box has power & the fuel pump works as it should. Many thanks all for your input
