Help with ECE adjustable track bar and shock relo kit
After a couple days work (thanks to multiple trips to the local auto store) I've got the front front end of my 68 c10 lowered with 2.5" spindles and new stock height shocks and coils. Now to start the rear end. I've got a 4" drop setup consisting of coils, shocks, shock relo kit and adjustable track bar. Im hardly a mechanical person so this is a big undertaking for me any pictures for the following questions would be great, now a couple questions....
Whats the best (easiest) way to remove the original shock mounts? Which direction do the new upper mounts go? How do I know what length I need the track bar? Is there something I need to measure or once its lowered do I just bolt it on? Thanks in advance, |

Re: Help with ECE adjustable track bar and shock relo kit
For the track bar, you want the axle centered at ride height. So after your new coils are in, set the axle on jack stands, then measure from the tire to frame on both sides. Adjust the track bar until the measurement is exactly even.
Original shock mounts, I took mine off as follows: 1. Use a cutoff wheel on an angle grinder to cut off the "ear" of the mount for access 2. Use a flap wheel on the grinder to grind off the rivet heads. 3. Use a BFH (big f'ing hammer) to knock the mount off 4. Use a hammer and a punch to drive the rest of the rivet out. New upper mounts should be self explanatory when you lay under the truck and look at them. They really only sit right one way.
