Don't pour oil down the back of the lifter valley, before the flywheel is bolted on....( you will be chasing an oil leak , that isn't there when it "blurps" out 1 of the bolt holes in the crank flange ) Longhorn

i think the biggest trend is to make sure the engine/trans/ecm is out of the same vehicle.... most problems i have seen is because trans/motor/ecm were from different years and thats when the problems started.

lol. Hence why I specified beer. I wouldn't have accomplished anything in the last 12 years without herbal encouragement. Everytime I start drinking in the garage, I have to pee before I get anything done, and when I get back...I forgot what I was doing before l left.

Build your air intake or pick whatever breather/intake tube you are going to use BEFORE you have your motor tuned.....

Yep and CPP has since released a new sheet metal style engine stand that addresses all clearance issues and you can use TBSS and Camaro exhaust manifolds and factory location adapter plates with them.

Just as an FYI because the original post mentions it, but you can almost always find coupon codes for ALLDATADIY. Most of the time you can get it 50% off or better for a few month or year subscription for a vehicle.

Just Google ALLDATADIY coupon code and the first few hits usually have good ones.

Is the engine and tranny year match the same on the 4l60e trannys the same as the 4l80e ones? I already picked up a 4.8l from a 2000 truck but no tranny, so now I'm on the search for a 4l60e. I know that it should be out of a 2000 + and 2wd but didn't know about matching the year, defiantly makes it harder to find the right tranny.

If you don't have V8 mounts to begin with, just slam it as far back as you can. It'll make setting up a cooling fan a lot easier.

If you are going to mod your own wiring, two steps: One, pick your computer location first. Two, giving yourself enough reach from engine to computer, cut / solder / stretch / shorten your wires with the engine & trans out of the truck & on a pallet. It *sucks* trying to make it lay flat & look good while it's in the truck and you can't reach much.

Any 4L60E from behind a Gen III engine will work.

'07 & '08 4L60E's from behind Gen IV engines will work with a Internal Harness swap (Using a '03-'06 harness).

In '09 the 3-2 downshift solenoid was eliminated, Will not work with your set-up. 4L60E production stopped soon after this.

Input shafts are different, so that and the convertor would need to be changed. At that point its better just to source the correct trans.
