Re: Burning oil in my 2009 Silverado

IN the middle of an oil consumption test. Took it to dealer right after my oil change and they checked it out. told me to come back in 1,000 miles. Did and 1/2 quart low. told me to come back in 2,000 miles, I just checked it after a 1,000 and I am 1/2 quart low. As mentioned already burned up my cam. We will see what happens. It is hard to deal with, I am a hard core chevy guy and all my ford and dodge buddy's are having a field day with this

Re: Burning oil in my 2009 Silverado

I had the oil consumption issue with my 2008 GMC. I noticed it was smoking shortly after I bought it, and had used 1.5 quarts in about 700 miles. It had 95500 miles on it when I purchased, put duel exhaust on it. It would poor smoke out when it would come out of v4 mode. Took a video of it, went to the dealership and showed the tech. They rebuilt the motor off just that evidence. The replaced pistons, installed the splash shield in the oil pan, put the new updated AFM module, and the updated valve covers. No issues since with oil consumption. GM footed the bill. The guy who did the work said he does about 1 rebuild a week for this issue on the 07-08 models.
