Pinion Gear and Front Spindle rehab?
As I go through and fix various things on my 55 2nd I of course find items that could stand to be replaced. When I replaced the rearend bearings I noticed that the pinion gear had been cross threaded at some point. Since the only replacement part I have found is from Tom's differentials and not the 3.90 ratio that came in the truck, I assume I would either have to replace them with new parts or do an entire late model rearend swap. I keep looking at ebay for a used 3.90 ring and pinion with no luck. The front pass side spindle has some worn spots on it also. Does anybody know of a way to rehab the parts or am I at the mercy of a lucky ebay or craigslist find?

Do yourself a favor. Scrap the 3.90 and get a 3.38 r & p. Patrick's sells them. I scored mine on ebay.
