Complete Exhaust System Replacement
I have a pretty gnarly exhaust leak and the PO had a butchered up exhaust system installed. I will be replacing the stock exhaust manifolds with 2.5 inch new ram horns. I will replace all the pipes and add some 3 chamber mufflers to tone the noise down a bit. I plan on going with these ram horns:

Would the exhaust shop have the connectors or should I locate these myself beforehand? I have a week of vacation from work coming up soon and want to have all my ducks in row to get some work done on the K5. Anybody have pictures of how the K5 exhaust came from the factory? Want to have all my research done before I actually go to the exhaust shop this week to get the ball rolling. Should I just go dual exhaust as opposed to the factory single configuration? Looking forward to eliminating my exhaust leak and enjoying K5 even more. Driving around light headed from exhaust fumes is NO BUENO! Last edited by Senorx; 11-10-2014 at 02:04 AM. |

Re: Complete Exhaust System Replacement
About to order the ramhorns pictured above. Will I be needing gaskets too? Any suggestions on which to get if I do need gaskets?

I would say just buy the ram horns and the shop should have everything else. Now if your wanting a specific muffler I would purchase those too. I know the pipe bending on the passenger side is a pita for them guys and if you are going 2.5" it's even harder.

Re: Complete Exhaust System Replacement
I'm wanting a muffler that is quite as possible. Was thinking about a 3 stage Flowmaster. What would you all recommend? I'm just not into loud trucks, well at least not for my K5. This is a weekend warrior and a future family hauler.

I put flowmasters 40 series offset on my truck but I don't remember which model. Not real loud but I can hear them. They were $70 a muffler. I guess the sky is the limit on exhaust systems.

I guess I'd like to hear them as well, but not crazy loud like some trucks I hear around town when they pull up next to me. LOL.

Re: Complete Exhaust System Replacement
Go with a single pipe, In my opinion there is no real performance gained at all by going with duals on a street driven vehicle. Headers for matter also. Single 3'' is way more than enough to flow out a 350. Cheaper too.
