Maybe it's the sexy engine that makes your eyes go to the engine:-)

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?
Funny some of the local guy's on face book asked the same question today.
My choice is black. You can change the color of the truck anytime and you don't have to change under the hood. The only time you would want the firewall painted body color is if it's 100% correct from the assembly line in my opinion. Another reason not to paint the fenders and radiator is when you open the hood you better have it as clean and polished as the outside paint and if you really drive the vehicle like I do it's not worth it. My opinion again.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?
I think its a matter of choice. For the purists, you dont have a choice, but obiously with these engines I'm seeing you can choose either way, And they all look great, Black or body color...SAWEEET!

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?
Short of professionally painting my fire wall body color, I partially painted mine satin black to hide the 40 years worth of ugly the truck had on it when I bought it. I could go either way.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?
Was the under side of the hood black from the factory? I had a 70 c20 that I bought from the original owner and I don't remember it being black....

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?
Body color as from the factory is my vote.
When I see a black fire wall I think someone has tried to cover up something. Same thing on a spray-in bed liner, probably a cover up.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?
In my opinion, the firewall, inner fenders and wheels wells look nice painted like the exterior. But I think the radiator support and hood hinges should be painted satin black. That's my opinion and that is how I am painting mine.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?
My vote goes for Body Color Firewall. I also prefer the inner fenders and the underside of the hood to be body color too.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?
I think this is true too. That is why I painted mine semi gloss black. I did everything firewall, core, inside fenders, and inner fenders. I like it.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?
I did mine (and I asked the same question a year or more ago) by going with what seemed to be the general consenus of opinion at the time.
I painted the under hood and firewall the body color, then painted the core support and inner fenders a dark metallic grey (ford color), as well as the big ole cadillac breather. You can see it in the build thread.

Re: Firewall - Satin Black or Body Color?
SATIN BLACK if your going to actually drive it. If not paint it. My .02 cents.
