AC Vents - Sound Off!

What are you guys using for AC vents and where are you putting them (or where will you put them)? Pics would be great! Lets hear from all you great fab guys also.

VA system but I did not like the vents at all. For the under dash I modified the VA plastic to put the vents up higher (cut and flipped the bezel) then made a new grille out of polished aluminum with metalic black paint to match the steering wheel. I but 07 mustang vents in the kick panel with the courtesy light and speaker. I can adjust the under dash with a high tech popcicle stick, once they are set, probably will not move them. trial run with just the fan has plenty of air movement.

Can you tell me what is the outside diameter of the chrome ring? I wonder if they are the same as the F150 vents?

These are from Vintage Air for 55-59 pickups:



They are billet aluminum bezels and they have many choices for the ball louver for them.

For the center vent, I'm just using the one that came with their GenIV kit.

Thanks. I take it you looked at my build thread.

I'm not working on it right now because I'm involved with the building of an addition on my house. I'm hoping to get back on the truck in a few weeks. I figure it will take me 3 months or so to finish it.

I didn't know if you had a TF or AD so I'm not sure if what I did with those vents apply to you or not.

I have a 56 but my build is opposite of yours. Autocross-pro touring. I sure do like a clean "stock" (at least compared to mine) truck though.

I just posted this because I dont know of all the options and have not seen many posts that address it. I think everyone can benefit.

Not the best picture but made a new panel for under the original dash that houses the radio, AC/heat controls and 4 billet vents.

Just the standard VA rectangular ones in my lower panel on the AD, and rounds ones on Jimbo in dash and the console...Jim

I was having a hard time finding a vent setup to put in my 53 that would still look like maybe it came from the factory that way. So many of the aftermarket vents out there look cool, but also modern and they stick out a little bit in an old truck, I think. Also, because the AD trucks have a curved dash, there's not really a natural spot for installing a vent that has a flat mounting face, as most vents do. My truck ended up with a custom flat valance piece under the dash, with recessed openings for the vents. I think the recessed openings really help to make it look like it could have been an original piece.

Here's mine. Stock V/A center vents, and modified side vents. Just used 2 1/2 hole saw and voila.

That area of the dash has a compound curve. How did you account for the round vent having a flat mounting surface and the dash curved?

Hey Torchlight. That piece looks great. What gauge steel ( it is steel isnt it) is it and how did you do the recess?

I picked the area with the least curve, if you look real close you can see that the bezel doesnt sit perfectly flat.
