New Member w/ a 1970 C10
Hey everyone,
My name is Alan, new to the forum and recently took title on a 1970 C10 longbed that has been in my wife's family since it drove off the lot. Her great grandfather bought the truck new and her grandfather used it as a work truck for most of his life. He passed a few years ago and the truck had been sitting in Arizona waiting for a family member to take on the task of restoring it. I have big plans and can't wait to get started. The truck looks pretty straight with only a little rust at the floor panels (2''x5'' each side) and the bed looks like it was a work truck. It came with a 350 but the transmission is blown and I discovered last weekend that the bottom end needs rebuilt. So here is a list of my desired build steps, please feel free to put in your 2 cents. I've only worked on stangs before and have never restored a classic car or truck. Build Steps 1) CPP big brake kit Front and Rear 5 lug 1) Convert to the 5x5 71-72 rearend 1) 4"-6" drop with 2" spindles 2) Wheels and tires (need to fit the drop, 5 lug, and big brakes) 3) Cut frame down to a shortbed (using the Trucks episode instructions) 4) Swap in a 5.3 L33 with 4L80E trans (new cam in the 5.3) 5) seats 6) body 7) paint Thanks Alan |
