Custom paint ideas
Lets see some ideas ,sketches, photoshop or whatever. Im no artist or photoshopper so this was the best I could do. Im thinking kind of a Baldwin Motion style stripe with a matte white with a matte gunmetal gray stripe in a 56 chevy trim style shape. All the chrome would be the matte gray and then a high gloss red on the back.[still not sure about the gloss red] The hood would have the center of a 66 chevy truck hood grafted in so the body line would match the paintwork on side. Just an idea I have been playing with, let me know what yall think.

Re: Custom paint ideas
I think that's pretty cool. Something I have thought about and experienced while going through this before- When you have matte and glossy sections like that, you're going to have a rough step-up where the glossy section is cleared or single-staged. Something I thought would be cool would be to matte clear the whole thing after basing the different colors, but then to come back and tape off and buff out only the sections you want glossy. It should give you a completely smooth-to-the-touch surface. Granted, I've never actually done this, but it makes sense in my mind!
The 64-5-6 hood bump is a cool idea if you can keep it from warping too bad. I'd make a big-ol mess out of that.

Re: Custom paint ideas
I did a half matte half gloss paint job on a harley. I used a matte and gloss clear from House of Color. You can cut and buff the entire thing and the matte clear will smooth out but will not get a real shine to it. It does come up to a slight semi gloss but it dulls back out over time.

Re: Custom paint ideas
I say I want a matte grey but this is the car that inspired me. I even cosidered using the 56 trim but wasnt sure how to handle it at the rear. I want the wheelse to have the same grey finish as the trim. I wish I had a better pic.

Re: Custom paint ideas
I have considered doing a sport bumper on the rear with the tag removed. A custom billet grille with two 4in exhaust tips coming through it like a vette. The only problem is what to do with the tag. I could recess it into the tailgate, but I was thinking of keeping the aluminium trim and painting it the matte grey. I just dont like the tag being up there.

I think the white trim is a little to monochromatic and if its the same color as the truck I would just shave it all off |

Re: Custom paint ideas
One I'd like to bump this thread.
After everything is fixed and running good i want to do a custom paintjob on mine. At first I thought of replicating the paint I did on a home built Harly I built a few years back. Then looking at the surface area maybe not. Big flames fan but I have another idea I think. Here's the bike pic so you can get some idea of the flame. I can describe the process if anyone is interested.

My alturnate idea is shinny black truck with front flames in matt or flat black, very subtle.
