Do the Suburban/Panel rear quarters match the trucks?
My suburban has some rust issues at the very bottom of the rear quarters/fenders just in front and after the rear wheel arches. My question is, can a guy use patch panels for a truck bed on the suburban in that area? This would make repairing that area much easier then to form those lips and bends from scratch. Thanks.

you will need the patch panels for a short bed truck, they will help in your rust repair, but you still might need to fabricate some parts.
the trucks have no inner structure, but the subs do, that is where you might need to fabricate, to connect the outer skin to the inner.

Good to know. This should make the repair easier as my inner panels are still pretty solid.

I think a guy could just spot weld some sheet metal L-brackets to the inner panel when the inside is exposed, and then once the new outer is installed spot weld those to the other side of the L-bracket.

yes that is what I was thinking with my sub... I haven't cut into it yet, but I think that will work.

Re: Do the Suburban/Panel rear quarters match the trucks?
It seems that it must have been customary to crunch the rear 1/4. Will the same shortbed fender work on the lower rear under the bumper to go around that corned. mine was crunched pretty good. got most out straight but had to cut on bottom corner. Any input??

Re: Do the Suburban/Panel rear quarters match the trucks?
I cant seem to find a patch panel for a fleetside longbed rear of the wheel opening. Do they just not make these for longbed? Everyone has them for short but no long. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Re: Do the Suburban/Panel rear quarters match the trucks?
you shouldn't need a longbed panel for a sub...
the subs had the same wheelwell as the short fleet.

Re: Do the Suburban/Panel rear quarters match the trucks?
but I'm looking to repair the section behind the wheel well that runs toward the rear bumper. It's pitted all the way back to the bumper which is about 28" from the wheel well opening. The short bed section is not long enough, but if you compare pictures of the sub and longbed it looks like it should be.
Compare below: longbed sub shortbed

I don't recall seeing the rear panel for a longbed, just the front panel, but I may have missed it. Have you checked with topbananaparts.com?
