Well, I took a bunch of pictures when I put mine in but I think I ended up deleting them. I had to cut off part of the retainer that fits down inside the trim. If I can find a picture of the clips I can show you what I had to trim. LockDoc

The part you cut off, was it the paper clip sort of shape side or the straight piece side. Thanks.

Re: 67-68 Grill Trim Clips Install
I had brand new aluminum trip pieces. After cutting and installing the clips they pushed out. Some pierced the aluminum. They have since gone to scrap. I just resused the clips on the original steel trim no problem, guess Im happy. Sorry no good advice here.

Re: 67-68 Grill Trim Clips Install
I just did mine, but I didn't take any pictures. The old ones were pretty much rotted and twisted up from removing the hoops earlier. I had to give one of the tines a slight bend close to the base to get the clip to stay in place inside the molding. There was a lot of cussing involved before that.

Re: 67-68 Grill Trim Clips Install
When I did mine I swore the whole time. Can't believe no one came up with a easier solution to dealing with them. I also broke a couple during the install. But didn't trim them at all. Best advice I received was to mark the hoop with tape for locations then convince the clips to sit flush and in the correct spots. Then take plenty of patience dealing with them.

Re: 67-68 Grill Trim Clips Install
I haven't tried it yet. But a few months ago, I saw a thread where a forum member took epoxy and and put it on the clips in the inside of the molding to secure the clips. I thought that was ingenious! It would take some precise marking, although there is a small slot in the grill area for adjustment. Like I said it will take sometime, but no more time than it takes if you do it the factory way! I feel your pain bro!
