1964 K20 stock axles
Hey,
I was wondering what the stock axles were for a 1964 K20. And would the hubs from a late 60s chevy 4x4 halfton work with the K20 axles? |

The late 60s is a 6lug while my 1964 K20 is 8 if that makes a difference

Re: 1964 K20 stock axles
Original axle would have been a dana44 closed knuckle, and no the 1/2 ton hubs will not work on the 3/4 ton hubs

Re: 1964 K20 stock axles
'64 K20 will have the closed knuckle Dana 44 in the front and either an Eaton HO52 or a Dana 60 in the rear. The Eaton is more common. Those locking hubs for the older 8 lug Dana 44 are not easy to find.

Re: 1964 K20 stock axles
Does anybody have any information on rebuilding the hubs? i heard that they may just need to be regreased? also people have been telling me that the lockout is held on by six bolt, but my lockouts are inside the (tube?) and i cant see how they come out. I dont have a picture of mine but will get one this weekend, also google search i havent been able to find a picture of my type of hubs.

Re: 1964 K20 stock axles
Thanks for the picture! i used it to kinda show what mine looks like. Mine is just the part that is circled, and doesnt have the extra stuff around it where the bolts are.Otherwise it is identical to that. which is leading me to believe that i dont have a k20 front axle and mine only has 6lugs. and here is a link to my photobucket that has pictures of my truck were you can see an example of it.

If you have 6 lug wheels then you have a Dana 44 K10 differential.

Re: 1964 K20 stock axles
To complete the information maybe. 1960-63 had locking hubs. Later models (64-66) had none...
I have an original 64 K20 with front Dana 44 Axle. No locking hubs. At least that is the information I saw once in a broshure.
