Question on mm clam shells
I have a set of 72 BB motor mounts that I plan on installing in a 68.
However the mm did not come with the clam shells. I've picked up a couple of sets but have noticed some differences. Can anyone tell me if the BB clam shells were unique, different, whatever than other clam shells? If so what are the differences or what should I be looking for? Many thanks to all the helpful folks on this outstanding site. Scott |

clamshells
The flat clamshell mounts for a big block are very hard to find and very pricy when you do find them. GM no longer has them, I've seen them on ebay a few times. I'll send you a pic of mine.

I'd like to see that pic also, or at least know the difference. I have a set, and would like to know that they are correct. Thanks

Re: Question on mm clam shells
Here is a picture of some motor mounts from a 72 GMC big block. I would need to clean them up to try and locate any part numbers. I would bet that the 73 clam shell portion would be very close. Maybe some one else will chime in. I don't know if you can wait another ten years though.

Re: Question on mm clam shells
Been doing some mock up w my BB and the original 72 clams should be marked #3993722. I have 2 pr and neither of them will allow the motor to "sit" over the 72 stands/mounts. I have a pr of #334971 and research says they were a SB mount for 73+ These mounts are shallower which allowed the motor to set down and align the bolt hole perfect.......just stumped ??????.........
