What crossmembers work? Repost for SportTruck70

SportTruck70 posted this in the crossmember thread. I thought it was a good question but didn't want it to get lost in that loooong (but good reading) thread.

I've been thinking about doing this X-member drop on my truck but can't afford the down time, its my daily driver. I've got a X-member from a 80's one ton and wanted to know if anyone knows if it can be used for my truck, it looks the same. I know the control arms are different but the bolt holes look to be the in the X-member look to be in the same spots, so could I notch it and put it in my truck with my control arms?
Someone correct me here if I am wrong. If I remember correctly the crossmember is the same. I know the frame is taller on a one ton so there may be a difference, but I don't think so. The A-arms are the same, but the ball joints are different.

Maybe we can get some ones input here that has a better memory than I have...
