bracket id
on top of the frame rail just above the front driver upper shock mount. what is it?

Attachment point for an engine restraint cable. One was put on each side as part of an early 70s recall for all SBCs (trucks and cars) to prevent throttle binding in case a motor mount failed

It's for the cable that limits engine roll in case one or both of the rubber motor mounts breaks. It was corrected with a new design of the mounts. LockDoc
