New to me 1969 Suburban Custom 10
Just picked up a 1969 Chevy Suburban Custom 10 this week. 112,000 original miles. 350 v8, 4 barrel carb and I believe a TH400 automatic trans with a trans cooler. 3.73 limited slip rear end from the factory. Power steering and power brakes. Runs great and is all stock. I repaired the tail light switch tonight and I need to go through the Heater switches as the fan won't turn on. Not sure why yet. My long term plans are a static drop with a disc brake conversion, tinted windows, rust repair and paint. It is going to be my daily driver.

Looks like a nice truck. The main heater switch is on the right side of the heater slide control bracket, under the dash. There is also a resistor in the top of the interior heater box behind the glove box liner. First thing I would do is to pull the wire off of the blower motor under the hood and test the wire for power with the switch and key on. Also make sure that the ground wire from one of the blower motor mounting screws to the firewall is not broken or corroded at either end. If you remove the connector from the resistor pry it up gently with a small screwdriver as the resistor block can be very brittle and break easily. The two screws that hold it in the heater box are 5/16". Also the squirrel cage could be full of mouse nests and it won't allow it to rotate. LockDoc

Re: New to me 1969 Suburban Custom 10
Lockdoc, thank you for the information. I went ahead and bought a new face plate, levers, cables and heater switch as mine seems to be pretty shot anyway. I will check those other things you suggested and hopefully have it all fixed soon.
Loving this Suburban so far. I had a 66 GMC Suburban for awhile which I thoroughly enjoyed but man, I'm very pleased with having power steering, power brakes and a tried and true 350 v8 under the hood. I can't wait to restore/modify this burb as time and money allow. |

Thanks for the replies and for posting my pics on the thread. For some reason my computer wouldn't post them last night. I thought the files might have been too big.
