Wheel studs
I'm running the Boss 338 wheels on my c10 and the stock wheel suds are too short so I need longer ones.
I think my suspension is off a 72'. Size is 1/2-20. Anyone know what diameter of a stock wheel stud is for front and rear? Last edited by Vova; 02-06-2015 at 09:36 PM. |

Re: Wheel studs
Hint: Remove one stud and measure it the press in end is the critical measurement here

Re: Wheel studs
I have had guys mention to drill and upgrade to 7/16 if you are going to take the time to re-stud...

Re: Wheel studs
You can buy longer studs at NAPA are any other parts store. I have longer studs on the rear end because of the disc brakes I installed. 1/2 20 is the correct size though. I found this on google. It shows all the studs and wheel spec's.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

Re: Wheel studs
How much more threads do you need? Unless it's excessive you can use the long reach lug nuts that give an extra 5/16" of thread engagement, that's about 6 more threads. A lot easier then changing studs.

Re: Wheel studs
7/16 isn't an upgrade from 1/2"

Re: Wheel studs
I had the same problem so I used wheel studs from a chevy Avalanche. They need to be slightly shaved right on top of the knurl but it worked. I had maybe 1/8 thread left to screw on the lug nuts. Now theres like half an inch

Currently the studs are about 1/2 way through lug nut. Having a hard time finding a 1/2-20 acorn deep reach. |

Re: Wheel studs
You need to have at least 1 thread past the nut. I buy the long reach at the local swap meet, Gorrilla lug nuts sells them on line but they are much higher priced then what I can get them for at the swap meet.

Re: Wheel studs
Any good wheel store should have these lug nuts. Well at least around here they do. I have several places to buy them from. Custom wheels will require a long reach most of the time.

Re: Wheel studs
I should have some at work, I can check when I go there. Just pay the USPS shipping, I think a small flat rate box is $5.25
Is the extra .300" (6 threads) going to give you what you need?
