Re: cowl hood

Hopefully someone with hands on experience will chime in, but I've read virtually every thread that has popped up over the last few years having to do with fiberglass hoods, and cowl hoods.

The suppliers I've heard of are:

US Body - many horror stories. Much rework needed and sometimes unusable.
Harwood - nothing listed for 60-66 Chevy trucks.
UP (Unlimited Products) - also many horror stories.

Re: cowl hood

Fiberglass body component for the 60-66 are pretty much all trash. I've wanted a full frontend for years, but the only companies doing full glass panels have all had TERRIBLE fitment issues.

Take a look at the reviews for US Bodysource fiberglass hoods etc for these trucks here on the forum. A few that have gotten them to work, have spent countless hours sanding and fitting the components.

Re: cowl hood

With a 4ft cowl hood, I am surprised it doesn't weigh more than that!

Re: cowl hood

Hahaha... I think they were referring to the fact in your first post, you have it marked as 4 FEET ( 4' ) instead of 4 inches ( 4" ). Four feet tall would weigh a ton. LOL

Re: cowl hood

I bought a cowl hood for my 90 Camaro about 10 years ago from up22.com. I was real happy with it. They sell a 4" cowl hood for 60-66 Chevy trucks, it weighs 75lbs. I guess the company name is Unlimited Products.

You'll need to take me for a ride in it. Never been in an old school blower car/truck before.

Re: cowl hood

I pick it up next week. I'll be in touch. I'm in Clairemont, so I'm pretty central in San Diego. I don't mind driving either.

Sweet! I'm in Mira Mesa and my Grandfather lives in Clairemont. We'll definitely need to hook up.
