help with kick panels

Has anyone used those molded kick panels with vent and speaker cut outs? Just wondering on the fitment and quality. Who has the best prices? I’m looking for a clean way to mount some speakers. Any other ideas? Post pics if you got em.

I ordered some from lmc looked great and made well but did not fit my 60 like they should. since I have vintage air and do not need the vents here is what I came up with.

Update: the PO had removed the vents and covered the up with plastic panels. I made some new panels out of scrap sheet metal and mounted my speakers and screwed them on. I plan on getting the carpet kick panels and cutting a hole for the speakers.

did you put anything behind the speaker to protect it? I used a garbage bag then trimmed the excess off after I screwed them in.

Why a garbage bag? Wouldn't the speaker pushing/pulling air cause the bag to do the same and possibly tear and/or make some annoying noises. Wouldn't it be just as easy to seal up the fresh air boxes with some sheet metal? I am kicking this idea around since I don't really need the vents, there is always windows to open to get air in the cab.

well I was thinking in terms of like speakers in a car door they always have plastic behind them. so I folded a garbage bag in half to make it thicker then pulled it tight and screwed the speaker in. then cut off the excess. yes the speaker needs something on the back of it to protect it from rain and weather since you are exposing it to the outside in that vent panel, unless you use marine speakers. why a garbage bag? I dont know its the only thing I could think of at the time and it works. no it doesnt make any weird noises.

I wasn't trying to come across like the garbage bag was a bad idea, just didn't think of newer cars using plastic to keep moisture off the door electronics, seems like the bag idea is the cheapest easiest way to seal them of. That set up looks really nice, might have to copy that idea for my ol 60 when I get to that point of the build.

Previous owner had installed speakers inside vent with plastic on the back to keep out air and moisture. Sounded terrible. I completely closed vent with sheet metal then used surface mount speakers from Retrosound. Sounds good now. Carpet was installed also by previous owner.
