Emblem Project
Hi All,
As many of us do, I check in on the other forums as time allows. The other day in the Paint and Detailing Forum, there was a discussion on freshening up fender emblems. Member 'snipecastle2' shared what he had done using "jewelry resin," a product he had got at his local Hobby Lobby. I was so intrigued that I had to try it myself and liked it enough to do both sides. It takes a bit to dry and the color selection for opaque and transparent colors is not all that large, but I do like the final outcome.

Super easy. Just clean emblem with some wax and grease remover and follow instructions on bottle for mixing. I used a small pick to dab drops on the 4x4 emblem, it acts like self leveling seam sealer.

I guess I was a bit vague. It was in our forum, just looking at the Paint and Bodywork section. Here's the link:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=657344 The product is very similar to two part epoxy. Equal parts and give it a very good stir. The tints are either an opaque or a transparent variety. One thing that was very interesting was the instruction on the bottles said that once the resin was in place, small micro bubbles will be at the surface. They recommended to use a small straw (I used a coffee stir rod) and gently blow over the top of the resin. It was like magic, the bubbles just disappeared and I was left with a very smooth and shiny surface. Adding the tint slows down the drying process. Mine was not fully cured for about 72 hours.
