A/C upgrade
Good morning. I have a friend with an 86 Chevy truck and told him I would do some investigating for an upgrade on his original a/c system. His truck has a 350 motor and the original R4 compressor setup.
I was looking at some sites and they offer upgrade kits with modern compressors and would like to know if someone could point me in the direction of what would be best to get. Thank you. |

Re: A/C upgrade
I would recommend checking out Vintage Air which is sold by lots of dealers or you can order direct. They sell complete kits as well as certain parts of the a/c system and they have good technical support, You can get the latest in compressors, lines etc.
My 67 truck was originally a factory a/c truck and after I priced rebuilding the factory system which is like a boat anchor, it was cheaper for me to get the Vintage Air Kit. It was very easy to install with excellent instructions and works like a champ. Good Luck on your choice.
