?? About CAA ac install
Hello all, I'm a few weeks away from buying my truck. A 66 custom rebuild I am buying as a daily work truck. I live in AZ so for me ac is a must. I think I am settled on the CAA system. The truck has an aftermarket aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. Anybody familiar with the install see any particular issues I might run into with my radiator setup? Yes I have emailed CAA, no response. Thanks

Re: ?? About CAA ac install
I called them and was told that someone from the sales dept would return my call. I also received no response and did business elsewhere.

Welcome to the forum. I've never heard of CAA so can't comment. I'm running Vintage Air in my truck and really like it.

CAA is Classic Auto Air. Let me clarify, I haven't got the kit yet, I was just trying to be prepared for any issues. I actually have heard quite good things about their customer service and product.

Vintage air for me....but with your radiator setup some fab work will need to be done. I'm not a fan of electric fans...are they pullers or pushers?

Vintage AC is the way to go, great fit and customer service. Installing one right now in my Suburban. I also have a Vintage AC in my 56 Chevy for about 6 years and it works great and was easy to install

Re: ?? About CAA ac install
I'm waiting for the Brown truck to deliver my Vintage Air Surefit, but I haven't been able to get tracking info yet. I bought VA based on the positive feedback I've gotten from my friend Brokenspoke.

Here is what you are looking for...http://www.vintageair.com/2014catalo...08-15%2036.pdf
The deluxe kit has controls very similar to the factory deluxe heater controls, but I believe they are electronic and not cable operated.

Re: ?? About CAA ac install
So interesting, I have spent hours researching between the two and have read literally hundreds of posts. So I'm sure this will really get the flaming started but from what I have read(if people are honest). Among people that have installed or owned both the majority prefer Classis Auto. They say vintage is good but it's the more well known so it's always the first people go to. The main thing I keep hearing is, easier servicability on the Classic kit and it being more 'robust'.

Re: ?? About CAA ac install
The last car I built I put a system together using a few manufacturers parts because I was being so specific with what I wanted. All in all they all make great parts and all work well. It just seems to be a personal preference. I notice (myself included) that people tend to defend their choices. So it's all good

Re: ?? About CAA ac install
Not defending either one I just bought the Vintage air because of good reviews and its built in the Great State of Texas!! Have installed about half of it and it all looks to be good quality. And the price was right. 1280 shipped to my door!!

Re: ?? About CAA ac install
Vintage Air needs to rotate their blower motor so you can't see into it. I had V/A in my 56 Nomad was ok , but being a wagon it was hard to cool. Quality product though.
