Fuel Problems

hey guys I hope you can help me, I was out scouting for turkeys, I got out of the truck while it was still running and I heard a loud dripping sound so looked under the truck and there was gas dripping, I walk to the other side and the passenger side tank was spraying around and through the gas cap of the passenger tank, I was using the drivers side tank cause the pump is out of the in the passenger tank!!

What would be the reason for this!

Some more info would really be helpful. What year truck? Which engine? Any modifications or swaps?

im sorry I haven't set my sig yet, its a 1987 Chevy Silverado. new 350, dual tanks, lockers front and rear, almost everything you think of new. if there is any other questions let me no

maybe the tank selector valve is going bad allowing the return to be diverted to the passenger side pressurizing it.

i cant switch my tanks for the same reason left side is fine but if i switch to the right it will pump from the right and return to the left.

I don't know the source of your problem, but it seems obvious to me that your fuel tank is pressurized. My only thought is that the vapor recovery system is plugged. A properly vented system will release pressure. I would disconnect the fuel vent lines at the vapor recovery canister under the hood and see it that relieves the pressure. However, since you have TBI, it might set off some error codes.

thanks guys that is a great start, im thinking it might be that tank selector, cause now that I think about it I had a full tank in the left side and im only reading a quarter now.

So I replaces the fuel selector valve and now im leaking fuel at the canister so I think you are on to something, I briefly looked at the canister and saw I good crack in top of it so could the vacuum be an issue
