Saw this one in Idaho. Looks like fake alligator.

Re: need ideas on 55-59 interior. pics please.

I bought one of these today.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/55-56-57-58-...|Model%3ATruck

been trying decide what to do. My original speedo finally died a couple months ago. Needed to get rid of the series ammeter anyway. Needed to go to electronic speedo for the 4L60E trans and was going to gut the ammeter and install a voltmeter. WTH.

The setup in your link has a mechanical speedo.

Here is the interior in my 59 GMC.

An original seat that I found in a fire truck.

Hi Roger

Yes, they're local to me, I called them direct. They give a small discount to phone orders or orders off their site. They're passing along at least part of the savings on the ebay tax. I wonder if my wiring setup will end up as nice as yours. insulated crush terminals = yech, gagamaggot.

Thanks.
And yes, I used uninsulated connectors, crimped, soldered and covered with heat shrink. I didn't use the adhesive lined heat shrink there because it should never see moisture. I still have a bunch of old heat shrink left that doesn't have the adhesive that I'm using up but when I buy it now, I only get the adhesive lined stuff.

Btw, I had to tuck the wires in a close as possible because there the rear of the gauges are very close the Raingear wiper system.

Re: need ideas on 55-59 interior. pics please.

Hi Roger,

I'll have it a little easier since I don't have that raingear deal. My truck had electric wipers OEM so I just took it all apart, cleaned and lubed it all up and it seems to work fine. Living in Az it's not a big deal anyway. I never understood why the wipers were so slow, but weirdly it turned out that the power source for the wipers came off the low side of the ballast resistor. Factory wire wasn't long enough to reach the hot side. Oddball deal. Tried reversing the connections to the ballast, but the factory harness was too tightly setup to allow that either. Apparently it's been wrong since birth. Factory wiring diagram shows it to connected to the hot side of the resistor.

Thanks for posting all the good stuff you've done and how you've done it in your build thread.

Hi roger 55. where are you buying the adhesive lined shrink tube? I've not been able to find it anywhere in my town.

I pretty much order all my electrical supplies from waytekwire.com.

I try to make my orders large because their shipping can be a little high. So, I keep things like relays and connectors (I like the weather-sealed ones made by Hella), various uninsulated crimp terminals and an assortment of sizes of the adhesive-lined heat shrink on hand.
