52' Chevy truck Battery Tray replacement
So I bought a new battery tray to replace the old one that was rotted out. Let me tell you it wasn't easy getting it out, your limited on space to get tools in there to get it done. It's got steel rivets holding it on, I used a combination of a dremal and air hammer with a chisel bit. Heres some pictures of me removing the old one. I'm going to have to make a custom bracket to hold the new optima battery in there. Just wanted to share cause I couldn't find any info on this.

The 4 bolts/nuts into the battery box space - not going to be a problem ?

Not really, if I push the battery the opposite way it's got enough clearance. It works out better too because I'm gonna make a hold down bracket, and being the battery is away from those bolts gives me more room to install the bracket without it hitting the battery posts. I'll post an update once I get it all done. I plan on working on it this weekend, I'll keep you posted.

I was just wondering, I mounted a tranny cooler inside the frame and have some bolts in the same area so I ran the nuts on the inside of the frame, less chance for battery damage. Last edited by Donaldo; 04-10-2015 at 03:45 PM. Reason: spelling correkshon |

Yea, I could put the nuts on the inside like you said just to prevent battery damage in the future. Thanks for your input, but when I'm done I'll post more pictures.

By the way me and my wife love Morro Bay, we went camping last year there. We are going to Big Sur in a couple weeks, can't wait for that. Just saw your location and thought of that, sorry got distracted, LoL.

It is a nice place to live for sure. We have a fairly good car show first week of May - mines not going to be ready, maybe next year. I came here from OC in '70 - stayed :) |

Well I finally got the battery in. I first made a aluminum bracket and didn't like it, so I used some lexan I had in the garage. I pleased the way it came out.
