Fuel tank/pump and rad setup for 5.3 swap
I am doing a 5.3 swap into my 63 c10, it has the radiator mounts that go down below the frame rails, I am wondering if I got a rad that has more cores would work to cool the 5.3 just fine, or do I need a bigger radiator, I would like to use the stock mounting location. If not what is needed, would I have to get the v8 mounts for this year of truck, anyone have any pictures. I will be going electric fans so clearance and shrouds won't be an issue. Also fuel pump and fuel tank time how would the under bed mounted lmc tank work with a aeromotive external fuel pump and regulator work, anyone have a good setup list from their swap. Thanks.

Re: Fuel tank/pump and rad setup for 5.3 swap
I have searched but keep getting mixed amounts of information and spending lots of time searching. Figured lots of people have these same questions so we can get them all in one post.

Re: Fuel tank/pump and rad setup for 5.3 swap
The mounts that go below the frame are for the 6 cyl. Me personally I was going to use a 283 radiator (lower mounts are higher), but unfortunately that radiator had some pin hole leaks. So I went with a new radiator (from griffin). I had to fab up even wider mounts.
On the fuel tank, I've seen the LMC, looks like you have to modify your frame rail. I've been thinking about a boyd tank with an internal pump. I'm concerned with (what I've read on this board) about external pumps burning up quickly.

Re: Fuel tank/pump and rad setup for 5.3 swap
I did a 5.3 swap in my 65 and used a Speedway Motors radiator. I raised the lower mount up about 1 inch and used the factory lower mounts. The upper I modified the original mount to fit. Here are a couple of pics:
For the gas tank I got mine from Brothers Truck. I fit great. Here is my pump and pre-filter; Any other questions please ask.

Re: Fuel tank/pump and rad setup for 5.3 swap
Here is the frame mounts and the engine adapters that I used. The frame mounts are CPP engine mounts and the LS engine adapters are from Hooker Headers.

Re: Fuel tank/pump and rad setup for 5.3 swap
What type of lower mounts are you using, I have the stock I6 mounts below the frame rail, what would I need to get to make this work, would it be possible to use the stock 02 gm truck rad and make it work. What type of fuel tank do you have for your setup, also what mounts crossmember and how much did you have to move engine back. Since I am changing my front k member to an 80's chev suspension and k member do I need to buy mount plates and mounts for an 80's chev.
