Oil pressure port....?

I'm gonna run these gauges....got a few hundred off from a member....this will save me some time..........thanks again man...!

fairly good match to factory gauge scheme......

and this is the F-body pan............sorry...it's cracked
this looks to me, like a drill and tap place for the oil PSI sender....?

I can drill and tap either one if that location has full oil pressure.....but the F-body one is almost there......I suppose it will be an issue of clearance....

Hello a1971blazer. Both of those oil port caps are interchangeable with LSX OIL pans. Both of the oil port caps can be tapped and threaded to read oil pressure from the oil pressure unit. It may easier to use the oil pressure port/sending unit in the back of the block, located by the camshaft sensor

thanks man........from what I have searched up, the ECM uses only a low oil pressure signal to turn on a warning light....so that would be easier......I won't have a light.

The ECM does not have an oil pressure sensor so you can use the rear port with no issues. That is what I did with my Dakota Digital gauges works great.

you shouldn't but that will depend on your gauges, the threads are metric. My gauges came with a bunch of different sized adapters so it made it really easy. I would install the sensor before you install the motor, its not easy to reach that area back there when its installed.

I'm also considering these exact gauges and interested on how you setup the oil and speedometer. Wondering if the speedometer is a simple plug and play, single wire VSS? Please post pics as you go, good luck!

Will do......but I'm a long way from there......
I glanced through the instructions briefly when I got the gauge assembly. It will work fine with the VSS but it requires their signal converter.
I assume that would be to used calibrate the speedometer with different tire sizes, gears etc.....? Luckily I got that with the kit too.....

autometer makes an adapter for the oil pressure switch to NPT. I went with this adapter for my 76 (I have not put it in yet).

Same deal on mine....I have installed it, & it worked out just fine Metric thread in the block, sealed with a copper ring,to npt on top....fittings pretty much with any guage set will work after the adaptor. The part was 10 or 12 bucks ....Summit, Jegs, or Car shop inc.... Longhorn

Hey Longhorn, what size is the base of the stock LS oil switch? i can see it but cant get a wrench on it.

I liked this location better than down lower by the exhaust. That's why I went this direction.

Man, its been a couple yrs since the swap....I will try to dig up the stock switch, & get a size for you, if nobody else has it :right of top'

hello mattcrp1. the thread size is m16 x 1.5. Auto meter sell an adapter for those who want to run the autometer electric oil pressure guage. Autometer #2268 is the adapter's part number.

It's 1-1/16". Part of the problem is that the corners of the hex on the sender are rounded which makes a lot of wrenches/sockets slip and not "bite" the sender. Most of the big box part stores carry an oil pressure sender socket specifically for the job. Here's a pic I snagged off the web showing the socket opening.

This is what I had to do for my sons c10 with a gen IV motor as the ecm needs to read oil pressure. I can attach a picture installed.

I used a 1&1/16 crow foot socket and removed the stock ls switch. plumbed up the new one and cranked it over works fine. thanks for posting this.
