Brake pedal return

I installed the cpp power brake/pedal set up when I started work on my truck and the brake pedal has always stuck about 3/8 of inch from fully returning even after installing a return spring on the pedal. The brakes dragged if I did not use my toe to pull the pedal up all the way. I checked everything and it stuck even with the pedal disconnected. Finally pulled the booster and had it bench tested and it did not fully return. Replaced the booster, now the pedal returns with no problem and the truck STOPS like it never did before!

Re: Brake pedal return

This is good information. Mine does the same. So it was the booster not the master cylinder? I have the same issue with having to pull my pedal up. CPP wasn't much help.I was going to rig up a spring for it but I know thats just a bandaid on the real problem.

Thanks,
Chad

Re: Brake pedal return

I talked to CPP and they would fix/replace if I sent it back. I am on the east coast, so 5 days shipping each way and how ever long for them to decide what they wanted to do and then I would have the same booster. So I bought a new one locally and what a difference in the amount so stopping with just a touch of the pedal, and it returns on its own!

Re: Brake pedal return

Which brake booster did you buy? Ever since I got the CPP kit, the brakes haven't felt right to me. I may switch my booster out as well

Re: Brake pedal return

I went to Engineered components, http://www.ecihotrodbrakes.com/index.html, They are located about 45 minutes from me. Great guys and lots of knowledge. The truck used to slow down and stop but now I can "lock up" the brakes and really stop.
