supposed to go look at a 71K5 tomorrow after work. the owner says it comes with a bunch of new interior pieces, new radiator and other stuff. only thing missing is the engine and he wants a grand for it so we will see if it's worth it or not.
i looked at a 70 jimmy thats loaded with options-p-s,p-b,a-c,tach, roll bar, shoulder belts, posi rear plus a bunch of vintage aftermarket add on's. it's straight but looks like it's been neglected. it runs and drives but has some rust. he wants 7K for it and to me it seems too high. i offered him 5K but he said he won't go lower than 7K.
sorry, i've never figured out the picture thing but if i decide not to buy it i'll be glad to tell anyone local where it's at.

don't know what happened to the motor, i only talked with the owner over the phone for a couple of minutes so i didn't get a lot of details. hopefully it will be decent old truck and not a rotted out old P.O.S.

I paid $1500 for mine without the motor. It sounds like you may have found yourself a really good deal, unless it's a complete rust bucket.

well, just got back from looking at it and i still kicking it around. it's got some pluses and minuses. not only is the motor missing but so is the front sheetmetal and doors. it has original paint and a straight body(plus) but needs rockers(minus).seats have been reupholstered(plus)but look like they belong in a boat(minus). has new carpet, 4 row radiator, gas tank, door panels, inner fenders and some other misc. interior parts(plus), posi rear according to the SPID(plus), very straight tailgate and unbroken rear hatch(plusplus). frame has been painted black and looks good.(plus).still stock height. floors and rocker boxes are not rusty.(plus). windshield frame not rotted(definite plus). needs a windshield and right rear side window(minuses). basically it's rolling tub with a good top. what do you guys think-buy it or forget it????

For 1000 it seems to be a good deal based on your discription. Front sheet metal can be sourced on Craigslist.

i've got a few parts-right door, left fender, hood, grille, bumper with 4x4 brackets, an engine that needs to be rebuilt, and i am good friends with Bill at vintage chevy truck in fremont for whatever parts i don't have laying around. i guess i'll go ahead and buy it and if things change i can always sell it to someone else to get my money back.

I don't think you can go wrong for $1000. It sounds like you've got a good project to start with.

Honestly, for $1,000 you can't go wrong on that deal. The tub is worth that, then you have the frame, rearend, top, hatch, carpet, seats, etc.

Agreed. If the top in is good shape, they sell for almost a grand. It may have utility bucket seats instead of sport bucket seats. Make sure it has a clear title (pink) with no back fees?

i called him back and am going to pick it up this weekend. it does have the utility bucket seats, my comment about the upholstery looking like boat seats was referring to the material and pattern they used,lol. it does have a clear title according to the owner. he is supposed to be getting all the parts and pieces rounded up by saturday. i'll re-evaluate the thing when i get it home and sort out everything i need to put it back together. i think i'll name it "humpty dumpty"

well, if all goes as planned "humpty dumpty" will be coming home tomorrow-(5-16).talked to the current owner tonight and he has gathered whatever parts he has so all i need to do is get my buddy with a tow truck to go haul it for me and load the parts up in my truck. once it's home i will look it over better and decide whether or not to put it "back together again". wish me luck.

it's home now so time to start gathering parts, we took an inventory of stuff and started a "need list" and "i have that list". i'm going to build it for my 84 year old dad-my labor and my spare parts, his $$$. he gave me a $10K budget to work with. i think i can make a nice driver for him with me doing as much of the work as possible. looks like my old 69 suburban is on hold for awhile.

if the pictures are saved to your computer... you can Manage Attachements to upload them when you post a reply....

Use the BROWSE button to locate the file... then use the UPLOAD button... close the pop up window when done.... then Submit Reply...
