That's 20 inches of extensions! *Ha, and I still had 2 more 3/8" extensions to call in......

Used to remove the grill brackets from the outer fenders since I couldn't get the inner grill to come out and had to get the ratchet over to the opening for the radiator.

I can see that you have never pull a chevy trans or else you would have a long one like a 36 incher. A swivel really helps in the case of removing the grille when it is time to take out the fender bolt that go in from the inside

I can see you are quite a perceptive guy.

By "swivel" do you mean that linked socket in the set? (A "universal" I have heard it called). I did give that one a go but not with much result. The sagging extension in the pic did work just fine. I'd like to get some 1 piece long extensions for the future.

AMEN TO THAT. i use my 36 inch extension all the time, 1/2 drive female by 3/8 drive male with a impact wobble socket makes removing trans bolts a piece of cake. i have extensions from 1 inch to 36 inch in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 and hybrid and it's amazing how ofter they come in handy.

Harbor Freight has some decent tools and some real junk, but their ratchet extensions work great and are relatively inexpensive.

Easy fix with a little electrical tape wrapped around the swivel..

So I guess these allow a degree of "play" in using a ratchet? And a greater degree by virtue of the extension length?

Such a thing could have helped, certainly

Yep. The ball and socket swivel is my favorite. It allows you to rotate the socket smoothly (compared to u-joint style) and works really good with air/power tools. You can find them cheaper at sears or harbor freight etc. Snap-On is expensive. I just happen to have that page up when I read your post.

Have changed alot of trannys on chevys (cars and trucks) and never needed an extension. Is this for the newer models?
