Sway bar issues
I pulled a sway bar off of a 3/4 ton van yesterday to put on my 68. Well, it appears to be about 3" too wide to mount to my lower control arms. I thought that the van bar would work but guess not. Going to go get one out of a truck today and try that.

Re: Sway bar issues
Not sure about the van, the truck works great though. Did you check fitment with the truck on stands, or on the floor?

Re: Sway bar issues
What year van? My question is, on the 73/87 trucks did they build C10's and vans on the same chassis?

Re: Sway bar issues
Pulled one off a 3/4 ton truck. It fits. Didn't grab the frame mounts so I'll have to fab some up. Now there any issues with just drilling the frame and bolting it directly to the frame? My truck is lowered by the previous owner.

Re: Sway bar issues
Frame mounts are not that expensive and I think you will have major problems, like the bar breaking the bolts and falling off, if you attach it directly to the frame. A couple of vendors , ECE and CPP to name 2 have mounts made for lowered trucks.

Re: Sway bar issues
I bolted it to the frame. Seems like it will be fine. If I have issues I'll fab up some brackets to mount it lower. No need to buy them, it's just some flat bar with a couple of bends, not rocket science to make. I drove the truck a couple of blocks though and it handles much better. Sometime soon I'll have to build some trailing arms since mine are rusted through 😳. Also have to try and get the helper spring off since the truck is basically riding on it.
