saginaw shifter linkages I6 and V8 "is there a difference?????
Ok guys I got all the parts from TBONE "great guy" and I am currently moving my engine from the I6 to the V8 position, I got the correct trans cross member, engine stands, z bar and mounts, and clutch linkages. My last question is does anyone know if the column shift rods from the column to the trans are longer or shorter "different" or are they the same and I can use the I6 rods. I have went this far and if they are different I want the correct V8 ones.
Thanks ahead if anyone can help me with this.

I think the Z-bar linkage is the only difference, Frame with cross member for bell housing would the same location....and shift linkages would be 1 length ....( I could wrong!)

I got the z bar and linkage for it. Also just for reference the bell housing cross member for an I6 and V8 are different and actually move forward 2 inches for the v8. I just hope the shift rods are the same. I am wanting to say I have heard they are different

I am pretty sure they are different. Po had put a hurst shifter in mine. I bought a set of rods and they didn't fit my i6. I later found the correct rods and got it hooked up. I can't remember if they were too short or too long. I still have them somewhere if you get in need of them.

Please see if you can find them and shoot me a picture and a price. Sounds like they were for a v8

Re: saginaw shifter linkages I6 and V8 "is there a difference?????
From what I am seeing I am moving the motor forward 2 inches or so. So the ones for a v8 should be shorter

I'll look around for them. It has been about 8 years or so since I swapped it over.

Re: saginaw shifter linkages I6 and V8 "is there a difference?????
I bought a pair from a 307 truck and they wouldn't fit my 250. One of them would bolt up but the other wasn't long enough and didn't have the same bend that it needed. I just threw them in my parts bin and decided to not mess with it since I'm putting an automatic in it.

Russ would it be to much of a bother for you to dig them out and post a picture or two? If they are what I need I may buy them from you. Thanks sir

Re: saginaw shifter linkages I6 and V8 "is there a difference?????
Good to hear, I didn't get a chance last night after work. I was pretty flustered trying to make mine work. I finally compared them to a buddy's all original 67 that his dad bought new and realized they were different.
