1950 Burb...yes or no?
I cant stand when cars/trucks get parked and sit dormant. Its been months since ive driven my burb outside a 5 mile radius of my house, mostly to Dairy Queen in the eve with the neighbors then over to the gas station to fill up knowing it will sit a few more weeks. This all started when I purchsed the 46 burb last year, recently changed jobs, find myself camping every weekend and having a guy back east make an offer on the 50 (wasnt for sale) and fall through with me holding firm. "They arent buding them anymore and you will have more into one building it than this I told him. " So another few months go by, I sell our Dually and Camper, sell off a another build and think " should I see if there really is an interest my good ol friend"
Have you guys sold " the one you would never sell" and regretted it? If you have 2, does a Guy really need 2? Heres a link to the ad http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/c...p?product=8430

Believe there is a pricing error on the listing.
Ever regret selling one? Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Depended on the vehicle and circumstances for selling it. If you have two, do you need two? For me, I would like having two different Burbs up and operational. Everyone will have a different opinion on these questions. And the typical advice is do what works best for you. Love your Burb and good luck with the sale! |

Just sold our #'s matching 1946 GMC & probably should've kept it but we've got 5 projects so had to make room. Somebody else can & will enjoy it more so not heart broken over it. Toss it on ebay & see what it'll get with your high reserve instead of a Buy it Now price. It's a killer burb so anybody would enjoy it & treat it right.

I sold my 51 Merc coupe, the car I said I would never sell in a weak moment when I was catching flack about where it was sitting and a guy with more money than sense made a cash offer. The good part is that he has done right by the car and made a lot nicer car out of it than I could afford to and has spent a lot of size large dollars on it. The bad is that it was my first car that I bought when I was 16 and had been in my name for over 32 years at the time.
If I sold another "family member" vehicle I'd sell it to someone on the other side of the country so it was gone from the area and I wasn't second guessing myself years later about selling it every time I saw it or worse upset because the buyer had made changes I didn't like. I passed on a pretty interesting Model A roadster a while back simply because that car will always be __________ ______'s old car and as it is/was a very distinctive car with a very old mural paint job on it that I didn't care for I didn't want to be known as the guy who stripped the mural paint job off _____ ______'s old car and destroyed automotive history even with the paint having huge checks in it. Now, is it just a situation were you feel the truck isn't getting used to it's potential, you have just lost interest in it, where you hate to see it parked outside (if it is parked outside) or is it a case where the current sales value could be put to a better use than having the truck sit there? I've got a number of friends some of whom you may know personally that are in the habit of building some really nice rigs and then selling them to finance the next one as soon as the new wears off or even before it does to finance the next build as they get as much or more enjoyment out of the build as they do the driving and showing. I see nothing wrong with that at all. I'm looking at my parts collection right now to figure out what I can use to build a truck that I can drive to a couple of shows in and sell to finance the 48's build. That is the only way my truck will get done the way I want it in a reasonable amount of time.

exactly. my friend scott would always say "dont worry about the swaybacks from wayback". he was talking about exes, but I apply it to almost every material possession I own. in psychology, people who are attached to material things are either attached to the attention they derive from the material thing, or worry that without the material thing they would be undefined and thereby useless. ergo: an expensive watch still functions as a timepiece even if no one asks you about it, but why bother with the expense if no one is going to notice? or distilled further: if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to say "man thats cool I wish I had a chainsaw too", is the chainsaw still worth it to the lumberjack? is a lumberjack a lumberjack without a chainsaw? I am not saying you fall into either camp, what do psychologists know anyway? most are just zoloft and xanax pushers, your family isnt perfect have some pills. if you cant replace it for what you are selling it for, you shouldnt sell. exceptions to this are when you have a genuine need to turn an asset liquid. I'm selling my truck for less than it cost to build because I want a shop with a roof. when its gone, I wont wonder if I did the right thing, and I sure wont wax poetic about it. I probably will build something better with what I learned.

you seem to enjoy the build and with multiple classics in the shed it may be time for it to go
i'd rather see it driven and enjoyed than to have a it languish as a garage queen plus selling one opens up funding for the next project ogre doesn't have that problem; only one classic truk and no chance of doing another project

Many of the trucks in my signature sit all the time due to how many vehicles I have, but I just don't want to let them go. My '53 hasn't moved in years. I say keep it.

I don't get attached to anything ...I build them to sell them at some point.
But if it helps a guy sold one at Carlisle last week not as nice as yours and he got $42 asking $45. Stock with a LS1 and 4l60e Mine would not be sold at $35k ....you can get more |

Only regret is the 57 210 sedan street racer I sold when I got drafted. Did not want to burden the parents with anything "just in case". Biggest regrets are the ones I wanted and should have bought and kept.

That is a cool ride. I agree about it being too cheap. I personally have 5 completed classics and 3 to go and consider them retirement. They do not build them any more and I switch them up according to my mood. I use Hagerty ins. It is cheap to insure and fun to drive. In short keep it and enjoy it.

. DON"T SELL IT.! You will regret it. And sooner or later you'll have to chase it down and deal with it (price and condition) if you can only one reason to sell it Hardship .! you my think your done with it ....Your not . I've had a lot of cars and regret selling a few. Now I couldn't afford to buy them because of there price . your asking price is very affordable and next time you might get a chance to purchase it wont be ....I would bet the bank on that....Sp .

You guys are all right. Sell, keep etc. There isnt a right answer for me, I do enjoy it, but have zero parking spots to bring another one home so my "hey I should snap that up, dump a ton of money into it and let it sit" mentality is on a stand still. I keep thinking of several things I would do with the cash then I went and drove it and if I dont sell it, oh well. It puts a huge smile on my face , thumbs up and smiles from those who pass. Its tough to put a price on that.
