CPP HD c notch or KP step notch

Hi everyone, I have been trolling for long while during the build of my truck and decided it is time join to show you guys my creation and get some others opinions of what I need to do next. i will start by saying the truck is bagged with plates and spindles in the front. The front rides very well and doesn't bottom out or anything like the back does. The back has a spacer above the bag to make install easier and it also has 2 inch blocks. The truck sits almost low enough for me in the back at ride height but there is simply not enough upward travel. haha yeah that means that the axle has hit the frame a couple of times. That does not feel good....I would like the rear to sit at the same height as the front at ride height and also go down to a similar height to the front when dumped. Should i use the CPP HD Cnotch and weld it as well as bolt it or should I use the KP step notch and cut it down to a reasonable height that wouldn't make my bed unusable? The catch is I also haul my quad in the bed on occasion. The quad is around 900 lbs. And the trailer I tow can't weigh much more than a 1000 lbs when I haul it that way.

The first Pic is the truck at ride height and shows that the back needs to come down more. the second pic shows the truck aired out with the quad so you can see what i describe with the weights above. The last pic gives a better idea of the unwanted rake when aired out. Shoot out you opinions of what you think I should do. I am will be installing whatever i decide upon. This is a great forum and I am glad to be a part of it now!

Oh and I will be lowering the front by a couple inches at full dump by modification of the bump stop and steering limiter bracket on the lower a arm.

Have you looked at pbfab.com he does have 3 sizes of step notchs but i think you can only run the stage 1 and keep your bed.

I have checked out Porterbuilt's stuff and it looks trick but it is a bit more coin than I am wanting to spend on the notch. If i do a c notch i will most likely bent a sheet of plate steel and weld it on the frame above the notch and box that in to add some lost strength.

The old school way is a thick wall 4 or 6 inch pipe and split it in half. They would use the half a pipe as a c notch welded in and just plate/brace up around it.

Think that would be as strong as the original frame if I did that and also fabbed a support on the top?

Re: CPP HD c notch or KP step notch

If you want to retain the OE strength of the rear frame rails, a properly installed step notch is the way to go.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
