Removing front clip on my "65
My project truck has been sitting still for about a year now. I bought it as an incomplete build. A couple things derailed my progress. What I found was a broken engine block on one of the starter mounting holes. I mounted a mini starter and it seems to start fine but in the long term I am considering the big block 396 to be junk (after I wasted $ on a nice carb, coated headers, chrome, wires, etc...). It runs good but I will most likely replace it with a small block crate motor or 5.3. Also the top of the frame rails were trimmed to fit big block headers. I am not thrilled with this and want it repaired. Additionally I want to convert to front power disc brakes and replace all of the brake lines with a quality done job.
With all things considered I have decided I need to remove the front clip (doghouse?) motor and tranny so I have access to do things right and the way they should have been done in the first place. So, I have never removed the front clip on a vehicle before. I will fabricate something in my garage so I can store the hood and front clip safely without hurting the nice paint but I have no clue how to best remove it. Can someone give me some good direction here? I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks

Sorry about the pic. My truck is not hanging by its rear bumper as it appears

So what Exactly is wrong with the 396? Just a tired engine that you never rebuilt?

The block is broken. A chunk is missing where the starter mounts. Only using 2 of the 3 bolts (studs)

He's talking about the (front fenders) lower rear fastener on each side that's not shown.
