I didn't, i purchased it like this. Just shorter springs in the rear and drop spindles and springs in the front.

Re: 1968 c10 How low can you drop a 6 lug, with brake drum all the way around
Is it disk brakes in the front or drums? I've been looking for drop spindles for drum brakes and I can't find them anywhere

Wow I was not aware of that, I am only going by what I was told by the previous owner. I will snap a few pics and post them up, maybe he just thought or assumed they were drop spindles . Now you have me asking is a 4" drop even possible with just springs?

Re: 1968 c10 How low can you drop a 6 lug, with brake drum all the way around
chevy_mike is correct. There are no aftermarket drop spindles for drum brake set-ups. 4" front drop can be achieved w/very short springs, springs & modified a-arms, or springs & a modified x-member.

Re: 1968 c10 How low can you drop a 6 lug, with brake drum all the way around
Since the pics of the truck seem that is is somewhat level, I would almost think the drop is a 3" front (springs) and 4" rear (springs). This would make sense and seem more likely. Since the rear typically sit 2" higher than the front, a 4" front, 3" rear would make the truck have a much bigger rake than what it shows.
Just my .02 worth. Cool looking truck either way!!!

What would be an easy way to lower ? A just pulling off front suspension of a 80s c10?

Re: 1968 c10 How low can you drop a 6 lug, with brake drum all the way around
If you are pulling the front suspension off an '80's truck, does that mean you are switching to disc brakes? Your first post says you are all drum. If drum, lowering springs and/or dropped lower A arms are your options. If disc in front, then dropped spindles and/or springs would be best. You can always go with air bags too and have an adjustable height.

Re: 1968 c10 How low can you drop a 6 lug, with brake drum all the way around
Air bags would be my main goal for my truck, would it be easier to bag with suspension of 80s c10? I am drum brakes all the way around, I wanted to lower it and keep it 6 lug with drums ,but now I realize it would never be as low as I would want it to be with drums

Why no disc brakes?

Wanted to keep it mostly stock, but disks are most likely what is going on it ,since I can Pull them off later model c10s

Stock drum brakes are ok @ best compared to the later model discs that are easily swapable. Doing the swap & utilizing drop spindles sure seems easier & more cost effective vs dropped control arms or other alternatives.

Do you know if I would be able to just swap the out the spindles and brake parts of an 80s c10, and install them on the old control arms on my truck? |

you can always do stepped control arms. there was a truck on here a while back that did have a set of drum brake drop spindles, they were on the truck when the guy bought it and looked very old. they were most likely fabricated. I have pics somewhere
