cl 68 swb k10
I ALMOST pulled the trigger on this one - a beauty of an SSTim find. Not sure I've ever seen a 68 short fleet k10 now that I think of it. I really really like this truck. Anyway, here you go, let the feeding frenzy begin (it is Shark Week, after all....)
Btw, I did speak to the seller on this one and grabbed the SPID (I was that close), and a few things that might save you some time if you're interested: - steering column is a summit tilt (said he put it in because he was planning to convert to an automatic) - T-case leaks a little bit, but 4wd works just fine Makes me want to move back to Cali just to be able to keep that black plate!! http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5073086516.html Last edited by jocko; 07-03-2015 at 09:58 AM. |

Re: cl 68 swb k10
few more pics - hope someone here buys this! (seller also stated the stock wheel fits on the summit column, but I'd do my homework. Personally, I'd swap back to the original column - didn't ask if he had it though)
Dump the 73+ caps (k's didn't have hubcaps in 68), paint the wheels back and you have the 68 4x4 brochure truck as a shortbed with a white top. Nice nice nice. He did tell me he was firm on the price. If this is what I was looking for (and I'm looking for a 71/2 k20, the ONLY reason I passed on this bird), then I'd say it'd be worth the price for me. Enjoy. Re: cl 68 swb k10
Trashed is such a harsh word. I'm thinking more like locally recontoured and fixable. Your not thinking of a standard painted rear bumper are you?

Re: cl 68 swb k10
Ya that would be my luck too! All you need to do to make that one a k/20 is an axle and spring swap (not to play devils advocate or anything like that ) I do completely understand wanting a real, loaded k/20! I don't regret getting mine a bit.

Re: cl 68 swb k10
So if that thing is $8000, then what would a 72 k10 short stepside 350, sm465, np205,3.73's and factory tach option with the same type of rust issues be worth? Oh and the body is VERY STRAIGHT...?????

Re: cl 68 swb k10
based on your description (and no pics), I'd say 8-11k-ish. I've never seen a 68 short fleet before. Have seen 72 k10 steppers much more often - BUT, still a very nice k10 to have, and I prefer 72s to be honest, as I alluded to above. Steppers have a dedicated following. Step vs Fleet is a deciding factor for a lot of folks. I like em both. Go ahead and post a pic if you like, I have no problem with slipping a "wiw" eval in this thread as the op - was just sharing the 68 when I made the (heartbreaking) decision to pass on it! Ha.

Re: cl 68 swb k10
And everything is there to put it back together. But its definitely NOT an 8-11k truck by any means. And I'm sorry, don't mean to high jack!!!

Re: cl 68 swb k10
no worries - you were an invited hijacker - thanks for sharing the pics. Agree, not an 8-11k truck yet, but a nice one and will be great again someday!
