Motor Mount Brackets Question

I received these engine brackets with the rest of the truck parts and want to make sure I place them correctly.
Has anyone else used these? And if so, do they go on the front two holes as shown or do they go on the rear two holes?
Since it looks like I will have to cut the edges of the frame to make them fit properly I want to do it once, correctly.

This is for a small block 350 engine in a 64 C10 short-bed step-side.

I have no experience with those aftermarket engine mount brackets, but the correct location for a small block is in the rear location. However many guys insist on moving their small block forward. Then if you install a long water pump, the fan starts to get pretty close to the radiator and an original fan shroud is no longer efficient. It all depends on what your overall plan is.

Thanks Cap'n, I was trying to get away with not mocking up the engine.
I will go get a load leveler today and make it happen, since it should be done anyway.
I have a TH350 trans to put behind the engine for now. Not sure I want to use it with the stock 3.70 rear gears though and I'm sure a 200R4 is larger. I see a 700 can be used with the trans cross member I have: http://www.persh.org/Pickup/700R4.htm
But again I need to mock it all up prior to going to paint to be sure.

I'd sure mock it up.
My 327 fit just fine on original mounts in the rear 2 holes, until I added an HEI distributor.
Now it a dang tight fit.
I'm considering moving everything forward 1".
Its just a matter of drilling a few new holes.
I moved one 6 months ago and didn't even take the driveshaft out.
There was still plenty of front yoke engagement, since the truck was lowered 5" , which moves the yoke forward slightly.
I did have to move the exhaust hangers, and remove 1 spacer from the fan hub.

I have never had any clearance issues with a small block in the original location and an HEI distributor.

Those are POL mounts and they will move the engine forward using the factory frame holes. You will also have to trim the frame to use them. I'll get a few pics

Heres a few pics.

1st one shows the notching required to allow the mount to sit flush. You'll notice I drilled holes in between the factory front/rear mount location. You'll be fine in the rear holes since your running a sbc. But for a bbc application, in the middle of the two allows me an 1" of clearance on the valve covers, enough room to remove a large cap HEI distributor and plenty of clearance for 2" primary header tubes.

I used a grinder to make my notch and round the corners.

Thanks 1963c-10 I just saw this.
Earlier I attempted to put the motor in place and there was no way unless I notched a 1/2" notch in the frame as you show. I was hesitant at the time however.

I have these perches and chose the forward mounting holes. I know many have had no problem with space and HEI but mine was so tight I couldn't remove the cap... of course I found that out after lowering the engine into place

Here are pics of my frame trimmed to accept the tubular perches (see posts 31-32). My engine has the short water pump so moving forward wasn't a big deal.

Seems my motor mounts, the ones attached to the engine/block side may be too large? I trimmed back the frame but in order to drop in the motor I would have to trim it back farther and the holes on the top of the frame wouldn't line up. I mean I got it in there but I have never had to use a hammer to get them to sit flat on the top of the frame in any other vehicle I have hot rodded.
Should I just trim till they sit in there properly and drill new holes?
Or is there a special motor mount (block side) that I should be using?

Any pics? Using grade 8 bolts on the crossmember and frame should snug it down tight, plus the weight of the engine.

I'd trim the frame to except the mounts, and if the frame holes don't line up, I'd drill them where you need them. Odd that you have that issue....mine went right in with no issue once I notched the frame. Bottom lined up nice also.

Looks like they are for a V6?
I went to Orielly this AM and found some for a 283 and they are MUCH narrower. Maybe I will try them.

I'm using ones from energy suspension. I can see if I still have the part #. If not, I will have it at home.

I can add that there are two different mounts. The "short" mount (1st pic)and the "tall" mount for sbc/bbc. My big block uses the short mount.

I went into town today and purchased Anchor Brand P/N 2267 motor mounts.
The whole thing dropped in like it was supposed to be there.
Even the angle on the engine was less (one of my concerns).
I didnt buy the originals, they were part of the "everything is there ready to be bolted up" deal from the PO. But this is fun.
