need some help determining the differences between 60-66
Ok so I know a guy who is a 60-66 Chevy truck enthusiast like me and he thinks he knows EVERYTHING on 60-66 Chevy trucks. Now I have a 63 c10 and he swears it’s a 61. Reason is he says the double hump dash is 61-62 ONLY! And I cannot change his mind... now like I said I have a 63 c10 but I do have a 61 c10 grille! now correct me if I’m wrong but from my understanding the double hump dash was from 60-63 and the other differences were that 60-62 frame was different and 60-61 hoods, 63-66 frames were the same and of course the changes in the grilles from 60-64 and emblems from every year were different. Is there any way to tell if my cab is a 63 without the VIN his argument was someone could have changed the VIN plate, I can’t go off the frame because it’s a factory 2wd swb on a 75 swb 4x4 frame. I also know the lights are stamped with the year to but I robbed my tail lights off a 60 c10 and the turning signals off a 65. The truck also modern tilt steering colum but I have a colum from a 62 gmc. Can anyone tell me what all the differences between the years and if there is anyway to tell what year my cab is? ill post pics of my truck in the day light i have one but the grille isnt in the truck

Re: need some help determining the differences between 60-66
You are correct. The 60 - 63 cabs have the double hump dash and wrap around windshield. 64-66 had the flatter windshield. The grills are the same 64-66 The 63 had a rounded style headlamp door where 64-66 had a squared off one. It may be possible to tell the year of the cab but I am not sure how.

Your buddy might be thinking of the GMC dash.

Re: need some help determining the differences between 60-66
GMC dash is single hump NOT Chevy they had double hump 60/63 .... the 63 cab will have narrower front cab mount location than a 60/62 ....someone here im sure will chime in with the measurements of both years as i dont know it off the top of my head... as for the year on the lights that will only tell you the FIRST year they where used

Re: need some help determining the differences between 60-66
you should be able to find some original interior paint somewhere, unless the whole cab was blasted inside and out.
60-61 had a silver interior with a charcoal dash, 62-63 had a fawn interior with a fawn dash. 63 will only have 1 hole in the fire wall for the brake, 60-62 will have 2 holes -1 brake, 1 clutch- **if it was a factory auto this would not apply. 63 has the inboard mount for the frame bolt on the front mounts, if this was changed out you should be able to see the original stepped washer welded around the hole in the outer position , if it is a 60-62 cab 60-61 has a tab welded on the firewall side that the column clamp attaches to, 63 this piece is bolted to the firewall with 3 bolts (not sure about a 62) 60-61 the rear wiring harness runs under the sill plate and exits the cab under a plate by the left rear seat mount. 63 the rear harness exits through the firewall if the data plate is there and it is not a factory "K" series 63 cab, the available engine listings will include the new for 63 230 c.i. 6. (the "K" series still used the 235)

Re: need some help determining the differences between 60-66
Just another for the record. The double hump is definitely not 61-62 only. It is most definitely 60-63. My 60 has the double hump.

Find a new friend, not worth the hassle! lol
He's wrong, so drive his head through the passenger side of the windshield and get it over with. lol A picture is worth a thousand words,so click on the link below in my signature and show him a thousand pictures therefore a million words. Watch a couple of slideshows even, if he can't read. I'm not angry, do I seem angry?

Re: need some help determining the differences between 60-66
You can look at the driver side of the floor. If it has the access panel for the rear electric harness it'd be a 60-62 cab. The 63 did not have the access panel on the driver side as the electric harness comes down from the firewall and runs down the frame.
Heres a good pic of the panel toward the rear of the cab on the driver side. 60-62 will also have the cab to frame mounts in different location than the 63

Re: need some help determining the differences between 60-66
If it has the original frame......the cab won't lie as are only specific to 60-62 cabs. Even if VIN has changed the cab design will determine if 60-62 or 63 cab.

Re: need some help determining the differences between 60-66
First # in vin will be year, second denotes c or k (2wd/4wd). By the way I will be in Creston in couple weeks to see my Grandmother. Maybe swing by to see ya.
