4 wires left!
okay. so about a year ago my truck almost burned down. wires were smoking every where. i have replaced all of the burnt wires. but now i have loss of spark. now i know this is got to be my starter harness. threw the dash there are 4 factory wires. purple black red and green. these go to the plug at the fire wall. now from there you will have wires black taped together all the way to the starter. well i did away from the wires that plug into the firewall and run to the starter. how do i re wire it back. all i need to know is what color to what post. there are 3 posts on the solenoid. S, B, and R. which wires go to which post? also i would like to know how to install an after market tach.

Re: 4 wires left!
purple is start (S) ...... black is oil sender... red is ignition (goes to coil through a resistor originally had a resistor wire to (R terminal on solenoid (for HOT start )then to the coil + side) )... and green Temp sender ....Tach would hook to the - side of coil..... look here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...644788&page=43 .... post 1062 pic 3 you can see how i did my wiring and resistor

Re: 4 wires left!
OK here is how my truck is set up now. purple runs to S, red runs to B, green roes to the brass male in the block, black runs to R and a yellow wire runs from r to pos post on coil. is this correct?
if it is then my next issue is my coil shows to have power to pos and neg sides of the coil pack and no fire going to my distributor. yes it has an external condincer. |
