1964 c10 help
Hey guys. ...not real familiar with the 60-66 chevy stuff. I am looking at a 1964 c10 swb that is blue in color with a small white section on the bed. The motor is a 6 cylinder with a standard trans. Would like to get some advice on this truck. Not sure if it is the original color but the paint looks pretty darn good and straight. No rust at all that I can see. I will try to post pics as well.
Vin# 4C144 H 150727 Paint code# 503AA Trim code# 762AA I looked the vin up but couldn't find the H in the decoder. Thanks for any help you can provide! |

Re: 1964 c10 help
Dumb question but....I really don't know what the value is on these trucks, but the guy wants $6000 for the thing. I wouldn't know if that's cheap or steep...lol. not sure if I should have asked that in this section but it seems like u 60-66 guys know ur stuff.
The interior is nice except the seat needs to be re-covered and has no carpet. |

Re: 1964 c10 help
$6000 is way steep. $2000 is more like it. If it had a 427 v8 or the 6 cylinder was cleaned and built up a little bit then I would say jump on it. But looks like a solid truck anyhow.

Re: 1964 c10 help
That truck looks super straight from a body and sheet metal standpoint. I agree that $6K sounds steep but $4K - $5K is not bad if it drives. Looks like it's been painted so look carefully for hidden rust. That tailgate is remarkable. If you really like it, then go for it.
I'll tell you this, it's money well spent if it saves you the trouble of having to find parts and restore stuff yourself.

Re: 1964 c10 help
paint code 503 would be glenwood green
The trim code is actually Z62 for the custom comfort equipment option, hence the aluminum grill, window trim, chrome bumper and you'll probably find whats left of a deluxe seat under the cover. And nice to see the grill guard....they don't pop up to often.

Re: 1964 c10 help
I agree that $6000 seems a little high, but, the beds are going for $1500. If you can find one. I bought a rusty truck with a wrecked front fender for $1500. Took the bed off and sold the truck for $750.
Problem is finding another one. Not many short bed fleet side trucks for sale unless they are up there in the price range. If that was my truck I was trying to sell I would be asking the same price. If I was trying to buy it I would be wanting to buy it for less???

above is ad listed for sale locally in Phoenix AZ asking $4500. I am not affiliated with truck in any way but this looks like more what a truck like you are looking at should be selling for.

Re: 1964 c10 help
Lots of good input guys... it does run but needs new tank, which I probably would relocate to underneath the bed.
The vin plate is on the door jam I believe. So if it was $4000, would that constitute a good deal? Not sure where the rust areas are on these trucks but I am going to look at again today |

Re: 1964 c10 help
In this area, a fairly original 1963-66 short fleet in that condition would sell all day for $4000. Yes, I would say that's a pretty good price.

Re: 1964 c10 help
Look in your rocker area and in the floors around the pedals and dimmer switch, especially if there is a mat in the truck. The bottom of the doors outside and underneath. Also look for rust behind the front fenders wheel arch near the bottom. Also look at the area above the windshield and roof, especially on the corners. Rear cab corners.

Re: 1964 c10 help
Not that it really matters but the interior color is not correct, so it depends on how you would like to see this truck finished. It does look like no one's hacked into it.
Radio opening in the dash ok? Speakers in the doors or anywhere else but the top center of the dash? No mystery wires leading nowhere? Carved floor for aftermarket 3 speed shifter? Different mirrors on each door, therefore holes to patch. Does he have the missing bright side moldings and aluminum headlight bezels? It has the optional in box spare wheel support. Not common. Are the tailgate chains painted or still have the original plating on them? Is the wood and strips in the box black? Optional basic interior rear view mirror. Looks like a factory antenna, though it's loose, easy to fix. Nice rear bumper that allows the tailgate to fully open. Passenger side sun visor? 1963c10 What year brochure is this pic from?

Re: 1964 c10 help
thats a 1965 interior brochure but the deluxe door panel is painted like a 64. probably a last minute change before the 65 trucks hit the roads.

Re: 1964 c10 help
For the Dallas area, that is about what folks are asking for a truck like that. I would hit him at $4500 tops actually since that truck is worth that IMO, as long as it runs and drives out well.
Everyone else can say the price is high for their area but they arent in Texas, especially north Texas where trucks rule, especially vintage trucks!

Re: 1964 c10 help
I'd go along with 4k as well. Does look like a nice truck and like mentioned...you don't find swb's that much anymore.
