outside door locks
My outside door locks do not work, they worked before I installed them in the doors. The doors lock from the inside but not the outside so at a show you can not lock the doors. HELP 53 3100 Randy

Re: outside door locks
I should have said that the key will not turn to lock the door. Randy

Re: outside door locks
Think back to what you took apart and how it looked before you took it apart. Offhand I'd say you hooked up the linkage rod in a way that it is binding up on something.

Re: outside door locks
did you possibly install the left on the right and vice versa so they turn the wrong way? do the lock cylinders (keys) turn at all? been a long time since i worked on those years so can't remember what the backside looks like. possibly a rod is hanging up on something? can you look down next to the glass and see maybe?

Re: outside door locks
First there is no rod, the key goes into the lock, which is turned 90 deg. and makes it impossible to push in the plunger, that locks the door. The rod is for inside lock only. The key does not turn at all now. The door handles where install about 2 months ago. Randy 53 3100

Re: outside door locks
Sounds like you have the same cheap Chinese junk that I have. I had to use parts from my original handle to get it to work but the key still doesn't turn smoothly and easily like it should. Here's a pic of the back side that shows how it works. You turn the lock ninety degrees and the tabs on the rod prevent pushing the button. It doesn't actually lock the door like the interior handle does.
