Replacing stock TBI with MSD Atomic unit?
My stock 350 is developing a top end knock and will be needing replacement soon. I would really like to get the truck (1989 one ton crew cab SRW, old bodystyle) in the 350-400 horsepower range with a lumpy roller cam etc. I know the stock TBI system is certainly able to be warmed over but at the end of the day I feel as though it would be more trial and error and eventually more money out the door than if I were to just build a motor with a new system. I am familiar with what the MSD system needs to work, my question is if I pull the stock TBI system off in favor of this system will I constantly have SES lights due to a lack of stock sensors being in place, am I going to have to hack the wiring just to get ignition? Just wondering what all would be involved in making the swap should I go that route when it comes time to replace the 350. Thanks in advance.

Re: Replacing stock TBI with MSD Atomic unit?
Will you even be using the factory check engine light after the install? Surely you could just terminate the circuit to ground prior to the light and you wouldn't have the issue to begin with.
I don't know how the MSD set up works, or how you will implement it, but its not terrible difficult to get a wiring diagram and delete the circuit for the MIL.

Or just remove the light bulb.
