Buying newer truck for donor parts
Im in the process of buying a 68 Chevy c10. Thinking about buying a cheap 2000-2002 chevrolet that has a 5.3 engine. I would like to be able to use the engine, power steering, power brakes, A/C and possibly the transmission from the donor to put into the 68 truck. Does this sound doable? Im far from a mechanic but wanting to see what my options are and how hard it would be to make the newer truck parts fit the old truck. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Re: Buying newer truck for donor parts
I'm doing this with a 2004 doner and a 1972 C20. The toughest part was finding a 2wd truck, I almost went with a van but a 6.0l 2wd showed up. I'm still working out the details and driving the doner to make sure the drivetrain is in good shape before the transplant.

Re: Buying newer truck for donor parts
I was seriously thinking about a 6.0 as well but will probably end up going with a 5.3 since there seems to be more and cheaper donors to choose from. Do you think it will be a fairly easy swap or will there end up being a lot of modifications?

Re: Buying newer truck for donor parts
From what I've seen the 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0l swaps all seem to be about the same amount of work. The amount of work will probably end up being a lot more than I anticipate but everything is relative.
