Where exactly is the heater motor in our trucks? mine is squealing, so i need to replace it. im thinking of doing the blower motor and fans at the same time, maybe check the heater core 2 while im at it. and, also, what is a heater motor and fans worth ballpark? i need this done real bad, as its cold. So, where is this damn thing, and what kinda work am i looking at 2 replace it/ thanx guy/gals

On the firewall under the hood behind the passenger side hood spring is where it's located.

The hood spring is in the way of removing the motor. We usually just remove the hood before removing the hood spring, but some guys leave the hood on and prop it up.

I would suggest vacuuming out the leaves and trash that you find in the heater/duct areas. Removing the heater housing requires getting access to the lower fasteners so you can partially or completely remove the fender liner to get at the bolts.

If you have an autozone near you,you can get a blower motor for $17.00.You have to ask for 73or newer.It is the same motor.

I got my blower motor from local Checker auto for $18 if I remember right.

Just the hood spring?! I had to remove the whole hood hinge. What a pain in the... But my new heater blows more air and doesn't squeal! I just used the old hampster wheel on the new motor, took a little muscle and WD-40 to get it off the old one (whol would have thought that 34years would make things stick together

).

The whole process isn't bad at all, may want to go buy a 6pk and invite a firend over for a little help. But it isn't bad, and very well worth your effort!

Drill small hole on dimple on the end of the motor and oil it. May solve your problem for a little while.
