Just finished the 3" mandrel bent tail pipe today. Fired up the truck and it sounds great!! I like the sound better than the 3" duals with X pipe and Spin Tech mufflers on my 480 hp Vette, which is a little too loud for me. The blazer sounds very toned and powerful (with the stock motor LOL). Even my non car enthusiast neighbor likes the sound. Now I just have to install my new power steering pump, lines, and steering box, and start driving it.

JayDub Blazer, I used the Dynomax Ultraflo Welded Muffler part #17235. The body is 24" long and oval shaped with 4.5" thick and 9.75" wide. With the female flanges on each end, it is 29" long (I've got a Dynomax catalogue to reference). It is a "straight through" design with a perforated pipe surrounded by fiberglass. It looks like it would be quite loud, but is has just the right tone (for me anyways). I went with the RV muffler because I thought it would be quieter than the regular Ultraflo's, which incidentally aren't that bad either. If anyone is interested, I could take a few more pictures of the final product with the tailpipe installed.

I'll get some more pics on the weekend.

As for parts, I bought the Corvette manifolds from a local dealer. If you look in the GM performance parts catalogue, you will find them listed in there. I bought a left and a right, some people buy only lefts (drivers side) because the passenger side has a tube going through it for the heat riser. However, with lefts and rights, you can hide the grinding marks on the manifolds (from the generator mounts) towards the rear of the engine, by reversing the manifolds (left to right side, etc.).

I bought the 171A-3.5 kit from Brzezinsky. It has the two into one collector, gasket less manifold connectors, and 90 degree bends and one 45 degree bend. I only used 4 of the 90's in my installation. I have 2 90's and 1 45 left over. The output on the two into one collector is 3.5". To get it to work with my muffler choice (3" in), I had to buy a 3.5-3" reducer. I cut the 3.5" output off the 2-1 collector and welded the 3.5"-3" reducer on instead (after I shortened the reducer as much as possible).

I bought a length of 2.5" and 3" tubing from a local auto parts supplier with the muffler and 2 2.5" band clamps.

To build the tail pipe I also used 2 180 mandrel bent pipes (I have a picture of them somewhere in this post), and two 3" muffler clamps for hanging the pipes

I used my mig for the welds (both butt and overlap). To do this you need welding/fabrication experience and a metal chop saw, grinder, etc. It took me a full day altogether.
